ロンドン・ヒースロー空港に到着してからのシーンです。
海外に到着してから、添乗員の最初の仕事です。
初めての空港ではどこに向かえばいいのかわからずに戸惑います。

入国手続きは、検疫（Quarantine）→入国審査（Immigration）→税関（Customs）の順番です。
ヨーロッパ諸国では検疫はほとんど要求されません。

1．入国審査

普通の観光旅行で審査官に聞かれることは、ほとんど決まっています。

滞在期間
入国目的

お客さまには「英語による答え方」をあらかじめ伝えておきます。
日本の空港で、出発前に結団式があればその時に伝えます。
結団式がなくても、全員が揃う場面があればそのタイミングで話すのが良いです。

例文その1

T＝Tour conductor　　I＝Immigration officer

T：I'm escorting a Japanese tour group. At which booth do we line up?
I：Line up at "Others booth", please.
I：Your passport, please. What's the purpose of your visit to Great Britain?
T：Sightseeing. （Pleasure, Horiday, Vacation）
I：How long are you staying?
T：We are going to stay about a week.
I：At which hotel are you staying in London?
T：The Piccadilly, downtown London.
I：All right. Have a pleasant stay in London.

① escort＝付き添う。ツアコンとしてエスコートしている。
② What's he purpose of your visit?＝入国管理官から入国の際に聞かれる決まり文句。

【訳】
T：私は日本人観光団体nツアー・コンダクターです。どのブースの窓口に並んだらよいのですか？
I：「その他の外国人」の表示のある窓口に並んでください。
I：パスポートを見せてください。英国への入国目的は何ですか？
T：観光です。
I：どのくらい滞在しますか？
T：約1週間です。
I：ロンドンのどこのホテルに滞在しますか？
T：市中のピカデリー・ホテルです。
I：ではロンドン滞在をお楽しみください。

訪問国によりパスポートだけでなく、出入国カードの提示が義務づけられている国もあります。
なおイギリスは2019年5月より自動化ゲートが使用できるようになり、入国カードも廃止となりました。

I：Passport, please.
T：Sure.
I：What is the purpose of your visit?
T：Sightseeing.
I：How many days will you stay?
T：Five days.
I：Where do you plan to go?

言い換え表現

1．What is the purpose of your visit ? 入国の目的は何ですか？
→What do you intend to do here ?
→What are you going to do during your stay here ?

2．How many days will you stay ?　どれくらい滞在する予定ですか？
→How long will you be here ?
→How long do you plan to stay ?

manyは数えられる名詞（複数形）とともに使われます。
これに対しmuchは数えられない名詞とともに使われます。
How much money do you have ?

3．Do you have a return ticket ? 　帰りの航空券はお持ちですか？
別の表現は下記です。
→May I see your return ticket, please ?
→Do you have a round-trip ticket ?

例文その3

I：Passport and entry permit application please.
T：Certainly.
I：You haven't filled out your reason for entry or intended length of stay. You've also forgotten to sign it. Please finish filling it out.
T：I'm sorry. I was in a hurry and forgot. Here you are.
I：You're here for sightseeing and will stay for five days. Okay. Here's your passport back.

I：入国目的、滞在日数が書かれていません。サインもしていません。最後まで記入してください。

I：観光で5日間の滞在予定ですね。了解です。パスポートをお返しします。
T：ありがとうございます。

言い換え表現

1．Please finish filling it out.　訳：全部書き込んでください。
→Please complete the form.
→Please fill in the blanks.

2．I was in a hurry and forgot.　訳：急いでいたので記入し忘れました。
→I must have missed that part.
→I must have overlooked those sections.

2．税関検査

税関では、事前に用意した税関申告書（Customs Declaration Form）とパスポートを提示します。
検査官に団体の人数、滞在目的、荷物の個数をはっきり伝えておくと、比較的スムーズに通関できます。
多くの国が観光客誘致政策をとっているため、団体客は個人旅行者より検査は簡単です。
特にヨーロッパ諸国では、ほとんど検査されません（タイもそうです）
英国も例外ではありません。
通関中にお客さまが検査官の質問に答えられなくて困っている時は、すぐに駆けつけて通訳します。

例文その1

C＝Customs officer

T：I'm the tour conductor of this Japanese group of 30 people and we have 30 pieces of baggage.
C：Do you have anything to declare?
T：No, nothing. Just personal effects.
C：Well. Ask your group if they have anything to declare? Any liquor, gifts or cigarettes?
T：They say they don't have anything to declare.
C：All right. Thank you. Enjoy your stay in Britain.

① Baggageはuncountable noun なので複数にはなりません。具体的な数の場合は10pieces of baggageのようにいいます。
② anything to declare?＝何か申告するものはありますか？
税関で聞かれる決まり文句です。これには、申告するものがなければ、No,nothing. あるいは、No, I haven't と答えればよいのです。
紙包み、箱入り、カン入りのものは内容をたずねられることがあります。
What's that wrapped in the paper? その紙に包んであるものは何ですか？
These are some instant noodles.　これは即席ラーメンです。
のように即答できるように心がけましょう。

【訳】
T：私は30名からなる、この日本人団体客のツアー・コンダクターです。手荷物は30個です。
C：何か申告するものがありますか？
T：いいえ、ありません。身の回り品だけです。
C：では、団員のみなさんに何か申告するもの…酒類、土産物、タバコなど持っているかどうか聞いてください。
T：みなさん全員、申告するものはないと言っております。
C：はい。ありがとう。英国滞在をお楽しみください。

何を聞かれるかわかっていると、英語は聞き取りやすいです。

例文その2

C：Do you have anything to declare?
T：No, I don't. Everything I have is within the allowed limit. I have one bottle of whisky, two bottles of wine, and 200 cigarettes.
C：Fine.
T：Also, I'm leading a group of 15 Japanese tourists, none of whom can speak English. If you have any questions for them, I can interpret.
C：I see. In that case, please ask if there is anyone carrying more than the allowed limit of three bottles of alcohol and 400 cigarettes.
T：Two people are each carrying one more bottle than is permitted.
C：Please ask those two to come over here. Please take these forms over there and pay the duty on the alcohol.

言い換え表現

1．Everything I have is within the allowed limit.　訳：すべて免税範囲内です。
→I don't have anything that I need to declare.
→I have nothing to declare.

Everythingは単数扱い。
例文：Everything in this room belongs to me.

2．I'm leading a group of 15 Japanese tourists, none of whom can speak English.　訳：私は15名の日本人グループの添乗員です。メンバーは誰も英語を話しません。
→I'm a tour escort with group of 15 Japanese tourists. They don't speak English.
→The members of my tour group don't speak English.

3．Two people are each carrying one more bottle than is permitted.　訳：酒類を1本オーバーして持ち込む人が2人います。
→There are two people in the group. They each are carrying one more bottle than is allowed.
→Two people in the group have exceeded the allowed limit for alcohol; they each have one too many bottles.

4．It contains stomach and cold medicine.　訳：胃腸薬や風邪薬が入っています。
→There's stomach and cold medicine in there.
→It has stomach and cold medicine in it.

例文その3

C：Don't you have any gifts to your friends here in this country? Ask them, please.
T：This lady has this camera that she bought for her friend.
C：How much did she pay for it?
T：She paid $300 at the duty-free shop in Narita Air Port.
C：Oh, I must charge her £20 duty for that. Please, tell her to pay it at the cashier, and show the receipt to the officer when she leaves the Customs area.

【訳】
C：この国の友人に何か贈り物を持ってきたかどうか、みなさんに聞いてください。
T：こちらの婦人が友人のために買ったカメラがこれです。
C：いくらで買いましたか？

言い換え表現

You should hold on to it until you leave the country.　訳：出国までこれを持っていてください。
→Please keep it with you while you're in the country.
→Keep it until you leave the country.

✔︎ luggage
スーツケース、トランクなどの手荷物を＜米＞ではbaggage、＜英＞ではluggageと言うことが多いです。
baggage、luggageとも複数形はとりません。
複数の個数を表現する場合は、five pieces of baggage（luggage）のようにします。

3．空港内の銀行での両替

B＝Bank clerk

T：I'd like to change some traveler's checks for this lady, please.
B：How much does she want to changes?
T：300 dollars, please.
B：May I see her passport, please?
T：Here's her passport.
B：Thank you. What kind of notes does she want to receive?
T：Oh, 20 pound notes, 10 pound notes and some coins.
B：All right. Here you are.

【訳】
T：この婦人に、トラベラーズ・チェックを両替していただきたいのですが。
B：おいくら両替すればよいのですか？
T：300ドルです。
B：その方のパスポートを見せていただけますか？
T：はい。パスポート。
B：ありがとう。どんな種類の紙幣と両替をしたいのですか？

交換率をたずねる場合は、What's today's exchange rate? 今日の交換率はどれくらいですか？と聞きます。
紙幣を小銭にくずしてもらいたい場合は、Can you break a 20 pound note into change? のようにbreakmの使えます。
銀行でHow would you like to change? 両替はどのようにしますか？と聞かれた場合は、両替の内訳、つまりお札の種類を聞いているのです。

添乗中に両替シーンは多々あります。
両替レートについては、お客さまからよく聞かれる質問の1つなので、先回りして確認しておくと楽です。
